All I ask is that the Cardinal take Cornell more seriously than they did Siena.

Also, there is nothing wrong with running up the score in the tournament; and it helps intimidate upcoming opponents!

you read it here first: Zona bets Duke in 2nd round. UNC goes out to either ND or WSU in sweet 16. Ron Paul wins presidential election '08. Avula Jones win ASSU executive '07. Take it to the bank.

We might be one and out, but hope you'll show us some love...it's a long plane ride.

Given Stanford's history of choking in the tournament, I'm hopeful that Cornell can make it past Stanford...

Given Cornell's history in the tournament (which is none), and Stanford's history of losing to teams from REAL sports conferences, I'm hopeful that we'll make it to the sweet sixteen. That being said, congrats for making it in and congrats on the season so far.

The betting fool bracket has Stanford in the Final Four. Apparently, my bracket is the same.
Let's take down those Longhorns!!!

Cornell can shoot, but so could Oregon, WSU and Arizona. What really kills us is hyper-athletic guards and big men w/range that can spread our defense. Cornell has neither. We'll foul out their big and cruise.

Report as: spam offensive Stanford's Achilles on 3/17/08 at 1pm

'hyper-quick guards' did you say? Well, let the past UCLA game prove quite the indication that the Cardinal is not ready for the big time. Trent needs to mortgage the entire future of the program on keeping the Lopez twins (unlikely) and recruiting a capable point guard. I mean, was it just me or did MJ (ha! the intials are laughable) get ripped at halfcourt like 2x? This really happens at the D-1 level? Pt. guards get their sh*t ripped before the halfcourt line? Really? Trouble looms as the athletic guards continue to stare across the court from us...

Keep in mind that Steve Donahue is not an idiot. He watched Louisville's clinic on how to dismantle Stanford last year and will have the Big Red prepared for Thursday. Cornell's guards are some of the best shooting in the country (1st in free throws, 3rd in 3 point percentage) and Louis Dale is certainly better than Mitch. But that's not saying much...

Report as: spam offensive Haha Cornell on 3/17/08 at 2pm

Yes, Cornell is a great shooting team (3rd in 3 point percentage) but look at the teams they played. It be pretty easy to shoot 3's all day against those teams and jack up your numbers. Wait until they play a real defense that holds opponents to low shooting percentages.

That, and let's see their bigs hold back Brook and Robin.

Fun times!

Yes, this is a very flawed team, and it will struggle against Marquette or Texas. But don't be silly - we'll crush Cornell.

Report as: spam offensive WaltHarris on 3/17/08 at 5pm

Haha Cornell,
Let's look, for comparison's sake, at the teams that both Cornell and Stanford have played this year. Stanford beat Harvard at home by 55 points on easily their best shooting night of the year. Cornell beat Harvard at Harvard by 1 point and at home by 33 points. Stanford beat Yale at home by 11 points. Cornell beat Yale at Yale by 21 points and at home by 20 points. Stanford lost to Siena away by 12. Cornell beat Siena at home by 6 points.
This game will be a lot closer than you think.

Cornell = autistic kid who hits 3's
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ngzyhnkT_jY
Hitting 3's against Ivy League defenses reminds a lot of the autistic sharp shooter known as J-Mac. Unfortunately, like our friend J-Mac, Cornell's moment of glory will soon fade and they realize that they are in fact autistic (figuratively speaking).

Report as: spam offensive Televised? on 3/17/08 at 8pm

Is the game going to be televised? I couldn't find it listed on CBS's schedule...Does anyone know of a page where the TV times are listed?
Thanks.

Report as: spam offensive cornell is trash on 3/17/08 at 9pm

we will completely smear them; they have a good guard but he is nowhere near the level of collison, mayo, wise or bayless.
we'll overplay their shooters, but unlike w/ucla, they won't be able to drive because cornell doesn't have a kevin love to draw out our bigs

Report as: spam offensive yes, televised on 3/17/08 at 10pm

all games will be shown online at http://ncaasports.com/mmod for free

Accuscore has Cornell losing by 14

Report as: spam offensive BigRed on 3/17/08 at 11pm

Cornell beat Siena by 6 in Ithaca. Siena beat Stanford in Albany by 12. Therefore, applying the transitive property of college basketball, Cornell should win by 18.
Adjusting each score by 3 pts for home court and adding 10 pts for Stanford because B. Lopez didn't play vs. Siena, Cornell will still win by 2. Show me where I'm wrong.

Report as: spam offensive BigRed on 3/17/08 at 11pm

Oh, nevermind, I see where I'm wrong. Cornell can never hang with the Pac-10, let alone Stanford.

Report as: spam offensive Ezra Cornell on 3/18/08 at 12pm

University founder Leland Stanford visited three East Coast universities -- Harvard, Yale and Cornell -- when he was putting together his dream of a Palo Alto campus. Eventually Stanford decided to model his namesake university after the one in Ithaca, N.Y., appreciating Cornell's coeducational and nonsectarian admissions policies in 1884. Seven of the school's 15 first faculty members came West from Cornell to get Stanford off the ground, and Stanford's first president, David Starr Jordan, was a Cornell man.
Leland Stanford still owes me.

I owe nobody. I am a robber baron, for christ's sake. And my school has far surpassed your school.
