In all seriousness, Old Union has become just another building whitewashed and sterilized for the further glory of Arrillaga.

Good editorial piece. The ASSU is trying hard to change the Old Union in many of the ways suggested in the editorial piece. To everyone out there, please contact the Old Union Programming Board (the Chair of which is, Ben Fong, whose e-mail can be found on the ASSU Website) with your ideas for artwork, programs, or displays in the Union. They are waiting for your suggestions and material to improve the Union. While financial issues do severely limit our ability to quickly make the changes we want in the Union, it is important to be persistent and continue laboring and asking for change in the space before it becomes accepted as the norm. Thanks Editorial Board!

PriceWaterhouseCoopers would be a good choice for school financial mascot. They did a good public financial image job for Harvard before Hennessey's Wall Street mob took over the Corporation and cooked up their books.

It is hard to get a loan from a large lender for a 2.4 billion dollar loan unless a top notch CPA firm signs off on your financial statements.

Of course this is Arrillaga's doing. He is deeply involved in the architectural designs of all his buildings. He has a preference for clean and white. Just look at all the newly remodeled buildings; they are the same. I once worked in Undergraduate Admission, an Arrillaga building, and the rules were draconian. No posters. No water pitcher for tour groups coming back (they hide that one in the back). No public seating. Heck, there were rules as to what could be on your desk, such as few pictures and no plants. And you what, everyone followed that rules because the University has whored its out this man and his terrible sense of decorating. Don't count on any changes despite student support. You might be paying 40k a year, but he is paying a lot more.

same reason there are no showers at the gym and an abysmal cooling system. Arrillaga says no showers in his day - no showers today.

Yea, why aren't there showers at the gym?

rumor has it that arrillaga doesn't want to allow the possibility for towels to be left on the ground, hence no locker rooms and no showers
