I believe you may buy and own textbooks from cheaper price. Not necessary to rent.

Rainyland Online bookstore

is one of the discount online bookstore that offer 60%off discount and brand new textbooks.

You can already buy used books for 1/3rd the price of a new book if you buy online, and then you get to own them (and resell them if you care to do so). You can buy them new for much less than the bookstore's price from Amazon; you can get even cheaper if you look around a bit.

There's another site that offers Textbooks Rentals and even a better idea. They will rent out students old textbooks for them and the students receive most of the profits. That's great!!!! Rather than sell it back to the bookstore a fraction of what you paid, you can make money on it over and over again.

I personally love the idea...mainly because it gives back to the environment while cutting the cost for me. If I want the book I'm sure theres a way to buy it from chegg.

I've been trying to crack this code since 2005, even dropped out of college for it. I made 30 on campus book exchanges (one of them for Stanford) called ScrewBookPrices.com. I've thought about the possibilities of renting textbooks, but shipping is still an issue. The problem is media mail, and by the time you get that book, you would probably have to take your first test in class!

Today, things have evolved a bit, as I've been hacking away at a new way to deal with this - your cell phone. Call (845) 839-8333 to try it. It then connects to pazap.com. Students can now buy and 'Cell' their books! Intel, the guy who made the first dial-a-joke, also who perfected the personal computer, Woz, all love it!
