Perhaps this will be clarified when I look at the print edition, but why is essentially a puff review with a clearly biased voice being touted as top-item *news*?
Let's remember when Jews like Silverman reference "Nazis" they simply mean "Europeans." Terms like racist, neo-Nazi and Nazi are simply synonyms used to define European people.
That is why Jews and nonwhites are never called Nazis or neo-Nazis, regardless of how racially aggressive they act. And the only time they are called racists is when they engage in some form of street aggression.
So what Joe is saying is that Mercedes provided the industrial infrastructure for the industrialized killing of Jews by a bunch of lazy non-Nazi white people?? Oh god, my mind is blown!

What I loved the most about the Q&A session was the part about what jokes made her offended. She answered that it was jokes about women being fat, because, as she put it, often times people dont understand the underlying problems that come with a woman in American society being obese.
...So she was saying is what makes a comment particularily offensive is when a comedian is ignorant about the underlying causes/problems that accompany an issue or stereotype that they are taking a crack at. Sarah, seeing as how you (as well as your staff it seems) like to joke about such things the AIDS epidemic in Haiti, the fact that young black men are dying everyday in this country and global poverty, what does that say about you and your "brand" of comedy?
I don't think Agee's opening was necessarily proof-read and commented on by Silverman.
One could also argue that the complexities of such issues are brought to the attention of a far wider audience when they are integrated into a broad malaise of global travesties. Awareness is important, no matter how it's packaged.
I think the author and I were at 2 different shows. Silverman's performance was terrible. She couldn't remember her jokes and had to keep referring to a list she kept next to her on a stool. Most of her jokes were 'pee-pee, caca, masturbate, my boyfriend's balls, aren't I hot when i pretend to hump cheese' jokes. Maybe she can pull that off when she gets the rhythm of the show right, or when she has chemistry with the crowd, but neither of those things were true last night. I would have preferred to have a show with no holds barred where she seemed comfortable than the show she actually gave, which was awkward and boring. What a disappointment.
I wonder if she's such an equal opportunity "offender" why she rarely makes fun of/essentializes white people (who aren't Jewish) or straight people? She seems to target already marginalized racial/religious/sexual minority groups who're routinely the subjects of this vein of comedy anyways. For a comedian with such "intelligence and pure intention" I would expect more creative social commentary and insight... Is making light of the AIDS epidemic in Haiti, starvation in Africa, etc. really more funny than they are offensive? I think not.

Do you think it is only WWII Germans who were National Socialists who are called Nazis? All Europeans who oppose the cult beliefs of multiculturalism/egalitarianism are routinely called Nazis or neo-Nazis.
And in terms of real history concerning WWII, between 500 thousand and a million Jews died during WWII. 300 thousand died in the camps, most towards the end of typhus and starvation. The rest died as combatants and civilian colatoral damage.
