I think it's great to give the swimmer's congrats on their wins, but you have to remember that they have most of these swimmers have swam at a higher level than any of the swimmers they competed against so they should have won. Thier win has nothing to do with coaching, but all to do with Stanford being able to draw the best swimmers because everyone wants to go to Stanford. You also failed to mention that they were competing against clubs that have been raped of their talent due to collegiate and Olympic recruits and the fact that the Santa Clara and Walnut Creek teams were swimming with 15 year olds on their best teams. These are girls that can't even drive a car yet and they were competing against Stanford. Sarah Lowe and Courtney should have won given their competition. If they hadn't placed where they did, they should have disbanded the Stanford team. Oh yeah, and one more thing, you forgot to mention that Santa Clara Aquamaids won the actual National Title of Champions. (state the facts next time and give extreme credit where it's due)

Sour grapes, move over and let the Stanford women have their momnet in the sun. I say it's great to see these women, including Ohio State who also gave the private clubs a lesson, hold down a world class education, the countless hours of study as well as the training, travel and rigors of this sport.
And what of private clubs having the sheer numbers of swimmers to throw into the frey which stacks points?
It's sad to see some people show an inability to truly honor talent and mutually support and congratulate each other and take this to the next level and out into the world. Competition should be left to the playing field.
