Thanks for posting this article. These risks are not being widely shared. These new bulbs are being marketed as a great strategy for reducing energy costs but there is no discussion about the downsides to these bulbs.
From my perspective ... the move to these types of bulbs does provide a short-term energy reduction benefit but once these bulbs start to expire we will certainly have a big mess on our hands. Disposing of these CFL's is going to take a change in consumer behavior.

I am mad as hell that our elected officials have now told us we have to get rid of our incandescent bulbs for the environmentally dangerous and totally impractical bulbs that give out crappy light. I think it should be my choice to pay the $150.00 more a year I might save for the choice of my light bulbs. What will become of those heat emitting halogens and all the other kinds of bulbs out there? Imagine that beautiful chadelier you just bought with CFL bulbs hanging above your dining table.
