Well put Martian Bachelor.
(By the way, what happend to your website? It's dearly missed.)
On the topic at hand:
Women have always displayed a natural propensity to desire the most powerful male (For her that means ‘wealth’ and ‘social status’ that will afford a comfortable lifestyle.) . That’s why the first questions from a woman’s lips when being set up with a male are “What does he do?” – whereas men ask, “What does she look like”. Men largely select women on their looks. (Read: A more attractive female symbolizes someone better able to bear children.). Men don’t care about her job. Men tend to be self-suffiecient. We don’t look to women for financial security.
Hence, as Martian Bachelor stated, a woman’s “Hard-to-get” attitude today will not make men chase her like in times gone by. Men are told to treat her as an equal in our feminist times. As an equal, men take her gestures literally.
Women aren’t treated ‘special’ any longer by men because of feminist social indoctrination.
The underlying theme is: “Don’t treat us like times gone by, because that is sexist.”
This effects the mating rituals today imeasuarably.
I share the concern as to where we are heading in society, in light of all this.
