Greetings from the Basque Museum and Cultural Center in Boise Idaho! We are thrilled to hear of this class being offered at Stanford. Good Luck to all the students in their endeavor; hopefully their interest in Basque studies will only grow!

I hope this class has the courage to dispel the myths associated with the Basques. One cannot have been isolated; thus, guarding the purity of the language, while at the same time achieving all those marvelous and wonderful things, which is what the PNV and its ikastolas have been adoctrinating for the past 25 years. I think Gabriel Garcia Marquez exposed this very, very well in his book, One Hundred Years of Solitud. And, the Basque writer, Jon Juaristi exposed historical incongruencies in his books, La Nacion Inventada and El Bucle Melancolico.

Now, what it should be required is teaching integrity. Is this too much to ask?
