Amy Steinberg
The Stanford Daily

Dear Ms. Steinberg:

I read with interest the Stanford Daily published November 10, 2006 "Have we our Renoir" article by you. In part, you write: 1) "the curators have carefully orchestrated the gallery to present the objects as they would have existed in their infancy: in the home of a prominent, upper class 19th century family, 2) "Beginning to circle back around, we pass by Degas’ bronze mold entitled Grand Arabesque and 3) "Art in a gallery is art in a gallery."

Unfortunately, I must inform you that all so-called Edgar Degas bronzes are "counterfeit." Edgar Degas was dead when these second-generation to third-generation removed -FAKES- were reproduced. For the Cantor Art Center to display a non-disclosed "FAKE" impeaches their credibility and most certainly their connoisseurship.

But that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

In closing, and respectfully, you can continue to write dribble that fosters misconceptions and perpetuates, with or without intent, -FRAUD- or you can try to become a connoisseur instead of a shill.

I await your reply.

I find Gary Arseneau... is really what his name implies. An ARSE.
A person writes based on what they believe, maybe the don't KNOW what you do but it's COMPLETELY why there's room for OPINIONS not destructive, abuse comments such as yours.
If you don't like it, inform her that it's wrong, not RANT about it like I am.
My point: Don't be a jerk about someone's writing.
