Man, I like your columns, but please take pity on your readers and ease up on the convoluted sentences.
Example:
"My apologies extend especially to those who were insulted"
So far so good.
"by the apparent suggestion"
Who's suggestion? oh, yours from your last column, ok. (But it wasn't literally suggested, it just appeared that way to some people, apparently.)
"that it wasn’t okay"
Okay...
"to think"
Wait, for who to think?!
"all the kids are spoiled. Of course it is,"
I can't even remember what "it" is, and what it "is".
"and in no way would I, or any other reasonable person, think that tarring everyone with the same proverbial brush was at all inappropriate or unjustified."
reasonable people... think... no way... at all inappropriate... proverbial tarring...
In the immortal words of Brian Regan, uhhhh I need to take a nap.
I guess I'm saying that it's a fine line between witticism and obfuscation.
