What a bunch of irreverent crap. You should be suspended and your degree revoked. I'll never hire you at my firm, and no respecting Stanford grad would either.

Excuse me... what was the purpose behind all of this? I would understand if this was meant to be funny or something, but it certainly didn't come off that way. In general, desecrating institutions and historical figures really doesn't have shock value anymore, or any value at all - dude, everybody does it now. (Look up Jesus joke websites if you don't know what I mean.)
Just a tip for next time - the highest form of humor rests purely on wit, not on putting down other people, living or dead, stodgy or not.

I remember when going to Stanford was the kind of priviledge that made you hold your head high. Now I understand why the band gets banned from football games and the administration is tightening its grip. People like you who abuse your talent and knowledge with so much (as the previous post put it) irreverent garbage. Maybe it's a worse shame that your editor didn't do his/her job and let your article receive publication.

Wow. You all take yourselves waaaay too seriously. It was supposed to be funny -- it was. It was supposed to be irreverent -- it was. If you can't get your heads out of your prude asses long enough to see that, I pity you.

It is a shame that "James McGill" and other previous posts did not understand the lightheartedness with which this article was intended. If we cannot make fun of ourselves (particularly with McGarr's admirable wit!), then we're taking ourselves too seriously. No truly respectable Stanford alumni would ever say something so terribly mean as what was said in the first comment. I hope that person realizes that his comment as a Stanford alum shows that he does not in the least embody what Stanford is about. I'll hire you, McGarr.

I'd hire you in flash, Katie. In fact, I have a history paper right now you could work on.
(Minimum wage, but I won't make you report your tips ... )
