At this moment my sister 57 years old is in severe heart failure at Presbyterian hospital in nyc... she has been battling cardiomyopathy for several years. Something our mother died of 32 years ago at the age of 54. It is uplifting to read the success stories and I feel hopeful about my sister getting a heart transplant,.. she is currently being tested and evaluated for one. She is good health except for her heart. Any comfort you can give us would be most helpful.
Thanks
My sister who was waiting for a heart transplant at NY Presbyterian Hospital in NY received her new heart on December 18th 2006... I am pleased to say she is doing excellently... she is recuperating at home and has been free of any rejection episodes to date.... We are so grateful to the staff at NY Presbyterian....it has been quite a ride...
If anyone out there needs to feel good about their loved one waiting for a heart email me......
I'm a mom of two daughters with heart transplants. I met Gaea Shaw at the World Transplant Games in London, Ontario in 2005. She graciously loaned her prized swim goggles to one daughter at a swim competition. Shaw is very inspirational.
Our girls also are miracles in their own right, as it's extremely rare for two siblings to receive a new heart. One daughter met her donor family and I pray we can hear from our youngest daughter's donor family someday also.
