Stanford came from behind to beat Washington State in the Pac-10 Fitness Challenge on Friday. As the weeklong event came to a close, Stanford had logged 55,335.63 weighted miles, while second-place finisher Washington State tallied 44,737.44 weighted miles. As of Thursday, more than 2,300 Stanford participants had registered online, and the number of online participants was close to 3,000 by the time the Challenge ended on Friday. According to Senior Associate Director of Athletics Eric Stein, the event marked the highest-ever degree of participation in a single campus recreation event at Stanford.
