BREAKING NEWS: Second fire torches foothills
20-acre blaze contained within hours

Firefighters got little rest after a June 25 brushfire scorched almost 200 acres near the Stanford Dish: a smaller blaze that charred another 20 acres in the Stanford foothills kept them scrambling on Thursday.
Farm goes up in flames
NEWS|
Firefighters brought a 177-acre brushfire near the Stanford Dish under control on June 25. Flames also threatened Stanford Sierra Camp.
Band’s provisional status lifted
NEWS|
Vice Provost for Student Affairs Greg Boardman announced on June 14 that he had lifted the indefinite provisional status of the Band, which first tooted its newly reinstated horns at Commencement on June 17.

Right-handed pitcher Nolan Gallagher was the first Stanford player selected in the 2007 MLB Draft. Gallagher was the 135th pick overall, and he signed with the Seattle Mariners on June 20.
