Come September, the members of the Class of 2011 will be the newest additions to the Farm. All 1,745 of them. With 70.8 percent of the 2,465 admitted students choosing to enroll at the University, next year’s freshmen will be a part of one of Stanford’s largest incoming classes.
Jacobson ties to ethanol disputed

A recent study by Civil and Environmental Engineering Prof. Mark Jacobson that was critical of ethanol as an alternative fuel source has drawn criticism from The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights (FTCR), which alleged that Jacobson’s report was “tainted by Exxon-Mobil ties.” University researchers and Exxon-Mobil officials, however, have provided counter-evidence to FTCR’s claim, calling the allegations baseless.

Town Hall ponders Iraq pull out

Approximately 100 students gathered last night for a town hall-style discussion on the Iraq war in Tresidder Oak Room. Political Science Prof. Larry Diamond headlined the event, which was sponsored by the Stanford Debate Society. Political Science postdoctoral fellow David Patel also participated in the discussion.
