Senior catcher John Hester notched the Cardinal?s lone RBI in a 6-1 loss to Santa Clara on Tuesday. The loss dropped Stanford below .500 for the season and extended the current losing streak to three. The team will try to turn around their luck this weekend against No. 16 ASU.

One team is riding the momentum of a five-win week. The other is on a five-game skid. One has a winning record in the Pacific-10 Conference, the toughest softball conference in the country, and the other has just one Pac-10 win. And one swept the other twice this week.

In a situation where every stroke counts, the focus of each individual golfer is essential, throughout the three-day event. Unfortunately, the Stanford women’s team was not able to concentrate sufficiently this week.

Running into trouble after a strong start, the men’s golf team was unable to keep up with the other teams and its own expectations at the Pac-10 Championship this week on the Bighorn Golf Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The Cardinal placed sixth, while sophomore Rob Grube led the team, tying for sixth.

But the Daily is perseverant, and not even the fastest woman on campus — Chauntae Bayne-Hackett — could escape a personal interview. And once we got her talking, Chauntae was more than willing to talk.
